WASHINGTON (PNN) - March 5, 2020 - While it seemed unlikely a mere week ago, it’s now looking like Joe Biden is on set to clinch the Democrat nomination. That means you can expect to hear plenty about Ukraine in the coming months.
The impeachment saga failed to remove President Donald Trump from office, but it did draw attention to Hunter Biden’s questionable activities in Ukraine, and it’s a scandal Trump is certain to seize upon in his attacks on Biden. Democrats resisted every attempt Republicans made at getting Hunter to testify, and for good reason. The entire impeachment saga was dependent on Democrats burying the reason why Trump was inquiring about the Bidens’ activities in Ukraine.
The Senate Homeland Security Committee launched a probe into Hunter Biden’s relationship with Burisma, and Chairman Ron Johnson said earlier this week that they’ll be issuing their first subpoena soon. Johnson also said that an interim report on their findings thus far will be released shortly.
“There are questions that Joe Biden has not adequately answered,” Johnson told reporters. “If I were a Democrat primary voter, I’d want these questions satisfactorily answered before I cast my final vote.”
“My investigations are not focused on the Bidens. They’re just not. But I can’t ignore them because they’re part of the story,” he said. They made themselves part of the story.”
“If there’s wrongdoing, the Amerikan people need to know it. If there is no wrongdoing or nothing significant, the Amerikan people need to understand that as well,” he said.
On Monday, Johnson announced plans to subpoena records from a Democrat public affairs firm that he said potentially tried use Biden’s role at Burisma to influence policy at the Amerikan Gestapo Department of State division. “I don’t know why any member of my committee would vote against a subpoena that’s just looking for records from a (Fascist Police States of Amerika) consulting firm,” Johnson said.
Without a hint of irony, House Democrats are preparing to accuse Republicans investigating Burisma of trying to interfere with Biden’s presidential run. What do they think their impeachment witch-hunt was, if not trying to interfere with Trump’s re-election prospects?
